In research and teaching, Mainz Sociology stands for a broad spectrum of socially relevant subjects of investigation as well as for a variety of sociological theoretical approaches and research methods. Since the institute was founded in 1973, Mainz has developed into an increasingly influential driving force for Sociology in Germany. Sociology in Mainz draws its research strength from the fact that exciting empirical and conceptually sound projects are carried out in all working groups, which enjoy extensive support from central science funding institutions.
We bring our innovative research, which is oriented towards current debates in the field, to life in university teaching!
