in the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate
, Platz der Mainzer Republik 1, 55116 Mainz

to the live multimedia documentary “Your vote counts?!” in the Mainz state parliament.

Every four years, we citizens are offered the opportunity to go to the polls as part of the Bundestag elections. However, many of us have the feeling that we are no longer being heard by politicians.

Justified criticism or a false understanding of democracy?

In a virtual journey through time, political scientist, journalist and lecturer Ingo Espenschied meets the great pioneers of today’s democracy and asks about their ideas and motives.

In the Bundestag in Berlin, he examines claims and reality, talks to MPs from all parties and watches them at work.

How does the Bundestag work, how does our electoral system work, and why is there no such thing as ‘non-election’? What can MPs achieve and what do the different parties stand for? Democracy is more exciting than many people think.

But it is also complex and the only form of government that we citizens have to learn and actively live by.

On February 23, 2025, all eligible voters will be called to the polls to elect the German Bundestag. This is a key event for democracy in Germany and a special opportunity for young people,

who are allowed to vote in the Bundestag elections for the first time.

Further information including the program of the event can be found here.
