Tutor training for students of all subjects in summer semester 2025

The Campus-wide Writing Workshop, based at the Center for Quality Assurance and Development (ZQ), is offering an interdisciplinary tutor training course in the summer semester of 2025, which aims to develop comprehensive skills in tutorial teaching. This offer is aimed at students of all subjects as well as tutors, exercise group leaders and peer advisors already practicing at JGU.

The training will take place from April 16 to July 2 in a blended learning format. The content is mainly developed online and in self-directed learning phases, supplemented by reflection meetings in presence and continuous didactic supervision by the team of the campus-wide writing workshop. In six modules that build on each other, participants reflect on their role as a tutor and acquire didactic principles for designing tutorials that are geared towards learning goals and conducive to learning. They also learn how to use didactic methods and visualizations to activate learning processes. Another focus is on the conscious management and moderation of group processes. Participants also develop feedback and advisory skills in order to professionally promote learning and development processes.

The course is supplemented by a practical module in which participants develop their own tutoring concept. An accompanying reflection portfolio supports the continuous reflection and sustainable further development of their own tutorial work.

The training is free of charge, designed to be interdisciplinary and can be attended in addition to passing courses offered by the subjects and faculties. Further details on the content can be found on the website of the campus-wide writing workshop.
