For students who are entitled to BAföG, the Office for Educational Support renews the proof of a proper course sequence. As a rule, this proof must be provided by the end of the 4th academic semester.

The following minimum points must be achieved for the entire program of study (core and minor) in order to be able to demonstrate a proper course sequence:

  • after completion of the third semester: at least 60 CP,
  • after completion of the fourth semester: at least 80 CP,
  • after completion of the fifth semester: at least 100 CP.

The recommended course sequence for the major subject stipulates that a total of eight modules (corresponding to 80 CP) must have been successfully completed by the end of the 4th academic semester. The Senate resolution of July 12, 2013 certifies a proper course sequence in the major (subject) if the following minimum number of credit points has been achieved:

  • after completion of the third semester: at least 40 CP (4 modules),
  • after completion of the fourth semester: at least 50 CP (5 modules),
  • after completion of the fifth semester: at least 60 CP (6 modules).

The study office will certify that the course sequence has been completed properly. Please contact the Sociology study office in good time during the 4th semester, but no later than the request from the Federal Training Assistance Office by e-mail.

The Sociology study office will check whether you can receive a “report” as proof or whether you need to submit Form 5. If you have to submit Form 5, please note that you will need a separate certificate for your core and minor subjects

If your major (subject) already uses the report, you do not need separate proof for the minor (subject) Sociology. Please contact your major (subject) first.

If your major (subject) still uses form 5, you will need a separate certificate for your major and minor. In this case, please contact the Sociology study office by e-mail.

According to the study plan for the minor, a total of four completed modules are required by the end of the 4th semester. A proper course sequence in the minor is confirmed if at least the following credit points have been achieved:

  • after completion of the third semester: at least 20 LP (2 modules),
  • after completion of the fourth semester: at least 30 LP (3 modules),
  • after completion of the fifth semester: at least 40 LP (4 modules).

The processing time during the semester takes about one week, during the semester break you should expect a processing time of two to three weeks. You will be contacted by e-mail when your certificate is ready.

Please note that the date of submission to the Office for Educational Support is decisive for the approval of your proposal.

If you apply for the proposal within the first four months of a semester, you must also submit it to the Federal Training Assistance Office within the first four months of the semester!
